When it comes to Admissions Directors, there are ones that love their job and then there are ones that LOVE their job! The Salon Professional Academy in D.C. is so incredibly lucky to have Ms. Kimberly Moses as our Admissions Director! Having been in education since 1994, Ms. Kim says that she “loves the positive impact I am able to make on potential cosmetology & esthetic students. It’s really the relationships with the amazing students that keep me going!”
“At a previous school, I enrolled A LOT of re-entry students. My proudest moments were seeing them enroll, start, complete the program, graduate AND become licensed cosmetologists and barbers!” If you have ever had the pleasure of working with Ms. Kim by taking one of her tours or working through the enrollment process with her, you know how much seeing each of our students succeed means to her! From her welcoming smile when she greets you at your first admissions appointment, to her stop at nothing approach to helping students realize their dreams, you will instantly feel at home and comfortable when you meet Ms. Kim!
Ms. Kim has been a DMV native most of her life! Just talking to her you get the sense that she truly KNOWS the Washington, D.C. area! “Aside from my two years when I attended Hampton University, I have been a resident of Capital Heights, MD all of my life!” The wealth of knowledge she has about our community really is able to help students overcome obstacles to reaching their dreams.
If you asked Ms. Kim what she would be doing had she not become the outstanding Admissions Director that she is, she would tell you that she has always wanted to be a mortician. “It’s always fascinated me and I would still love to go to school for it!”
A true Gemini, she is creative, adaptive, charming and has great communication skills! It’s those Gemini traits that serve her well in her role. “With each tour that comes in, each prospective student, they bring a new set of opportunities for the Academy to help and watch them succeed. Being adaptable and able to effectively communicate is the number one skill that has helped me work with potential students!”
Lastly, we asked Ms. Kim to share with us something nobody knew about her and that might shock some people. “Well,” she said, “I ate Noxzema when I was pregnant with my first child!” And no, she was not kidding!
Ms. Kim lives by the verse Matthew 7: Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and the measure you use it will be measured to you.
Next time you see Ms. Kim inside TSPA DC, give her a giant hug for us. We love her so much!
