When it comes to educators, there are two different versions. There are the ones that treat it just as a job and then there are the ones that are doing it because it’s their passion.
Allow us to introduce you to Ms. Whitney McGill, our Director of Education. Anyone who has ever had the pleasure of meeting this gem of a human would tell you that education and EDUCATING is truly a passion of hers!
Growing up all over the DMV, Whitney has spent time as an adult living in Charlotte and San Diego. She has been a member of the TSPA staff since 2020 and was promoted to Director of Education in December of 2022. Having first gotten her cosmetology license, Whitney was not satisfied with just one license! She went back to school to obtain her esthetics license. Still, two licenses were not enough and Ms. Whitney set about to get her educators license.
“I love that I can provide the safest place for people to be their entire selves while reaching their professional goals!” Whitney’s approach to education is very simple: make it fun, make it relatable and make it inspiring. Since Whitney has taken over the Director of Education position, she has brought a stability to our education department and a completely safe space for all students to express themselves just the way they would like.
When asked about a time she felt truly accomplished in her education career, Which shared this story: “A few years ago, I walked into a spa (where I used to work) to meet with the regional director. Unbeknownst to me, they were conducting training for new hires (estheticians and front desk). 10 out of 15 of the new hires were my former or current students. Because of my education, training and influence…they were hired!” Her 9 years in an educator role has certainly been impactful for all students that have been blessed to be in one of her classrooms!
With a May 1st birthday, Whitney is a true Taurus, which, she states simply is the “best sign of the zodiac!” While her fun, bubbly personality would leave some to believe that she is an extrovert, Whitney shares that she actually is an introvert! Having been a spoken word artist AND having a favorite activity like axe throwing, you’d never know upon first meeting her. Either way, ask her for her top axe throwing tips for success and she’s happy to share!
TSPA DC is incredibly lucky Ms. Whitney has chosen us to call home. We are proud of her, the work she does and how much of an impact she helps our Academy have on each of our students. She leads by example always allowing compassion and grace to guide her decision making.
“Aint no sense in worrying about the things you cannot change!” Whitney says when asked about what motto does she live life by. We couldn’t agree more!
Have you met Ms. Whitney yet? Stop by the Academy and say hi, she’s got her axe throwing skills ready!
